Q. My fiancé and I are paying for our honeymoon, but are really struggling finding the money for it because we are paying for most of our wedding, and to make things worse I was recently made redundant. Do you have any ideas on what we can do to have a good honeymoon on a budget?
Aimee, Huddersfield.
A. Honeymoons are always tough, you want that romantic atmosphere but on a budget, which most honeymoons just usually aren’t unfortunately. There are lots of things you could do on a budget though. Have a you thought of a cruise? There are some brilliant cruise offers at the moment, and most can blow you away with the facilities on board. I saw in a travel agents recently a 7 day cruise from £300 per person. If you shop around you should be able to find deals like this.
There are also many fantastic deals on Caribbean holidays, most are all inclusive so this will save you money when you are there. You should easily be able to pick up a package including flights, hotel and meals from £600 per person for 14 nights, which is very reasonable. I would recommend the Dominican Republic if you are considering the Caribbean. Or alternaltivly there are some stunning cottages you can rent for a week across the UK. Cumbria is lovely for romantic walks and evenings by the fire. Check online too for all different honeymoon holidays as you can pick up some bargains. Hope you find something and have a fantastic time!
Q. We are thinking of getting married abroad, we would love to be somewhere hot and being on a beach on our wedding day would be a dream come true. We are just worried what our families will think because they all might not be able to make it out. Do we stay here for an easy life?
Ella and Stu, London.
A. No! It is your wedding day so you should do what you want to do. The only thing you should consider is that the people you want there should be there. It is far more cost effective to have your wedding abroad, and the pictures you will have forever will be amazing. Q. I have just got engaged to my partner of four years. We are both in some debt and can't afford a big grand wedding, but we would still like everything that a traditional wedding has. How can I make sure I get this with a small budget?
Kathryn, Devon.
A. You need to come up with your maximum budget for your wedding, find out if you will receive any help and then allocate how much you can spend on each part to your wedding. the idowedo.co.uk budget planner will help you organise this to ensure you stick to your budget. Good luck!
Q. We have six children coming to our wedding dinner all aged between two and nine, but the favours we have for our guests are not appropriate for children. What would you suggest we do for the children favours?
Scott and Dawn, Scunthorpe.
A. It is always a good thing to cater for the children in a different way for favours, it can be done just as cheap as the adults favours. You could put a small goodie bag together for each child with a colouring book, crayons and a small amount of sweets. They would love this, and it will keep them quiet whilst the speeches take place!
Q. I am wondering what the tradition is for how many bridesmaids you should have? I have seven adults i would like as my bridesmaids but my husband-to-be thinks this is far too many. I don't want to drop any of them as my bridesmaid though, please help!
Leah, Kent.
A. Wow, you are lucky to have so many close friends, Leah! Your husband-to-be could be concerned with regards to cost for paying for all seven adult bridesmaids, but you could set a budget for each and allow each bridesmaid to put the rest to each dress if they need to. There is no set tradition for how many bridesmaids a bride should have, it is your big day so make it how you want, however, it is your fiance's big day too, so talk to him about his concerns and try to compromise.
